故事发生在 1930 年，在一次偶遇黑手党火拼之后，出租车司机汤米·安吉洛（Tommy Angelo）不情不愿地加入了黑社会。起初，他为加入萨列里（Salieri）家族感到很不安，可很快随之而来的巨大报酬让他无法抗拒。随着他一路平步青云，他捞到的外快也越来越多，可他干的活也越来越肮脏。汤米或许最终会赢得萨列里家族成员的尊重，可是过上他所选择的新生活以后，成为黑手党正式成员却让他比以往任何时候都要矛盾。
